  • Choosing a yarn for an elastic fabric is not only a matter of denier or filament count. The same polyester CEY yarn can produce a soft, fluid knit or a more stable woven fabric because loop structure, yarn placement, tension, and heat setting all influence stretch and recovery.
  • Selecting polyester CEY yarn is rarely as simple as comparing denier or choosing the option labeled “high elastic.” Two similar yarn specifications can create noticeably different fabric weight, drape, recovery, texture, and resistance to bagging once they are woven, dyed, heat-set, and sewn.
  • Stretch fabrics do not all need the tight pull or high extension of spandex. For dresses, trousers, blouses, and lightweight tailoring, manufacturers often need a yarn that adds comfortable movement while preserving drape, shape, and a refined surface.
  • Choosing a plain-dyed fabric for women’s garments involves more than comparing color and weight. Designers also need the right balance of drape, opacity, stretch recovery, surface texture, and care performance.
  • Choosing among polyester yarn types is rarely as simple as comparing names on a specification sheet. A yarn suited to a smooth woven fabric may perform poorly in a soft stretch knit, while polyester POY yarn requires different processing capabilities from finished FDY or textured DTY.
